In 2011, I did over 70 photo sessions for the families of Prince Of Wales Island! I chose my favorite photo from each session (yes, each one) and then narrowed it down to only 11! Then, I left it up to my Facebook fans to vote on their favorite by “liking” the pictures. What a fun and exciting competition! Thank you to all of my friends, clients and fans for making this so fun! And here are the winners….

Every year I have my “BEST OF” contest where my clients, blog readers, Facebook fans and faithful followers can vote for what they think is the best photo of 2011. This year, I will be naming 3 winners (1st, 2nd & 3rd place) and have some amazing prizes!

* All 3 winners will have their photos featured on my blog header and also on my Facebook badge!

* The 3rd place winner will receive an 8x10 print of the winning photo ($15 value)

* The 2nd place winner will receive a gift certificate for $25 print credit for the winning photo’s gallery.

* The 1st place winner will receive a 12x12 mounted storyboard with 4 images from their featured session ($35 value)

Voting works like this:
Voting will start today (Saturday, December 31) on my Facebook page and will last through next Saturday (January 7th) morning until 8:00am. Visit my “photos” section and find the albums listed “BEST OF 2011″. Click through the 11 featured photos (which I have chosen carefully) and “like” your favorite photo! The photo with the most likes will be the winner and will be named this years BEST OF WINNER! The photo with the 2nd most “likes” will win 2nd place and so on. Facebook will allow one vote (aka “like”) per person per photo. And anyone can vote – so it’s likely that complete strangers will be voting for your photo! That’s cool because it leaves it open for everyone and anyone to participate. And… in the event of a tie, I’ll have a tie-breaker round with a different photo from the same session – competing a second time, head to head.

The winners will be announced Saturday (the 7th of January) by noon via Facebook!

I had so much fun with this adorable little red head! Older babies are usually a little more difficult to photograph but she did AWESOME! She ate while I was setting up and then went right to sleep. This young lady comes from a family of commercial fishing, an Alaskan way of life. So, it only made sense that we take her senior photos where she could be in her element…on the boat. This fun family reminded me of my own kids at home. They have 3 boys and a big sister. We have 3 boys and a little sister. It was fun to meet all their personalities. Big sis was shy and quiet with a beautiful smile. Brother #1 was so polite, and gave me the handsomest smiles ever! Brother #2 wanted absolutely nothing to do with smiling. He’s adorable with or without don’t ya think? And last but not least, the Baby Brother. He wanted absolutely nothing to do with me or smiling! I had so much fun photographing this adorable couple! I drove over 30 miles there and back to photograph them in this perfect, little location on the beach. I made them stumble and hike over big rocks and huge logs, and even made them get a little wet, but what gorgeous images we ended up with!

This year, we decided to do something a little different. We put in a request for the Easter Bunny to bring the Heath kiddos new rubber boots filled with goodies in place of baskets. What a fun (and much needed) surprise! And an even bigger surprise was that fact that all 4 of my “heath”ens let me photograph them before they were off on the hunt! Yay!

Resurrection Rolls ~ An Easter Tradition

A great cooking activity and family Easter tradition to do with your kids while teaching them the true meaning of Easter. Here’s What you need…

1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough (8 rolls)
8 large marshmallows
Melted butter
Cinnamon & Sugar mixture

DIRECTIONS: Give each child one triangle shaped section of crescent roll. Tell them the crescent represents the cloth that they wrapped Jesus’ body in.

Each child takes one marshmallow which represents the body of Christ. Lay the marshmallow on the dough and carefully wrap it around the marshmallow. Make sure all seams are pinched together well. (Otherwise the marshmallow will “ooze” out of the seams)

Paint the rolls with melted butter using a pastry brush.

Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture. This represents the oils and spices the body was anointed with upon burial.

Place in the oven (tomb) and bake according to package directions on the crescent tube.

Cool, then have the kids break open the rolls and show them how the tomb is now empty and…

Brandy wore the crown in 2006 and is famous for her “high heeled XtraTuf” boots that were actually custom made just for her! Brandy is graduating from The University Of Alaska Southeast where she has been studying Environmental Science, Biology, Sociology and Anthropology. This photo session was SO much fun! I am beginning to think that Valentine’s Day is better than Christmas! I ask for things for Christmas, and I’m good all year (wink), and I still don’t get them. But, come Valentine’s Day, I am presented with these AWESOME, and I mean AWESOME presents! For example, three years ago, I got this from my valentine…

And the year after that, I had begged for this fantabulous new hair straightener that I had seen on TV that would make me love my hair again, and voila!

And this year…WHOA BABY! This year (after 4 years of begging and pleading for my very own) I got THIS…

My very own LAPTOP! I don’t have to share! It’s not pink, but it’s shiny and pretty, and it has all the keys!!!!

I am so extremely smitten with it! So smitten, in fact, that I had to make a blog post about it! :)

This post is the first of many that will give you a little glimpse into my world and the ones that I love. I am currently involved in a wonderful production from well known Photographer, Willette, and this little thing she calls “The JOY of Love”. Throughout the month of February, she is helping us capture the JOY of the ones we love. So, here is my first post. My loved ones, just doing what they do…We’ll start with the biggest brother. Can you tell he’s 11? He’s a pre-teen, he’s a punk, he’s a rock star and I LOVE him!

Next is the middle brother. He’s serious, he’s too smart for his own good, he’s sweet, and I LOVE him!The littlest brother. He’s Mr. Fix-it, he’s silly, he’s my snuggleupagus, and I LOVE him!And then there’s the baby sister. She’s sugar and spice and everything nice. She’s a spitfire and a princess and I LOVE her!

We reveled in Holiday JOY…

We trimmed the tree… We wished “hard” for snow… We counted down the days…We remembered the reason…We sipped LOTS of hot cocoa… We read a few Christmas stories… We baked and shared some tasty treats…We saved some just for Santa…and tried REALLY hard to stay awake to catch him…We were all really REALLY good this year…even the puppy was good…We enjoyed our traditional Egg Nog French Toast breakfast…We enjoyed our gifts…We enjoyed each other…and I enjoyed every single bit of it…
